The CrowdCell Project Group is a 4G Relay concept, whereby an intermediate “Crowd” enabled device relays traffic between a customer UE and the macro network. Its main benefit is to be a rapid and low cost small cell solution thanks to its Plug-and-Play (P&P) concept by means of using the available 4G coverage.
The CrowdCell Project Group focuses on creating a CrowdCell by leveraging General Purpose Processing (GPP) platforms, Software-Defined Radios (SDR) and reference designs for hardware and Open Source software to minimize costs with a “one design” flexible reference platform.
RFIs for OpenRAN Technology to Help Improve Connectivity
JUNE 20, 2018
TIP launched the OpenRAN Project Group at the TIP Summit 2017 to bring a more flexible approach to Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment design and deployment. TIP vRAN FH over G.Fast at 5G World event in London Tech Week 2018
Thanks to British Telecom, Mavenir and ADVA teams for putting together an end-to-end integration showcasing the TIP vRAN FH initiative. This integration was sponsored by BT at the 5G World event held in London during the week of June 12th. What a great way to demonstrate the progress of TIP technologies! Interesting to note — in a few months, we will be at the same venue for TIP Summit 2018 – looking forward to showcasing the next level version of this integration then.
